Chicago based artist Bianca Cardenas is majoring in oil painting at the American Academy of Art. From a young age, Bianca always had an interest in art and dreamed of working in the field. She creates the illusion of textured surfaces such as tile floors, walls, or cowhides. Who Bianca is as a person has been influenced by these surfaces. She utilizes minimalism and trompe l’oeil within her body of work. Her Mexican heritage and the people in her life influence her subject matter and determine the surfaces she paints. The people and lessons they represent have helped build who she is. Set to graduate in April 2018, Bianca hopes to exhibit her artwork in galleries and take on commissioned work.
